About Earls Colne

This attractive village spreads out from the banks of the River Colne in the beautiful Colne valley. It is an old village with broad streets, leafy lanes and rich variety of typical Essex properties, some dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The parish church is a focal point of the village dating from around the 13th century.

Earls Colne offers visitors a pleasant place to tarry, it has a few shops including antiques and soft furnishings, a choice of excellent inns, restaurants and tea rooms.

For the energetic there are two nearby golf courses and a sports centre and for those who take life at a more leisurely pace there is fine Essex countryside to explore, particularly nearby Chalky Wood where you can enjoy nature walks and picnics.

Earls Colne makes an ideal location for exploring this lovely eastern corner of Essex, you can follow the course of the Colne which flows through historic Colchester on its journey to the sea.
